The New Zealand Postcard Society is committed to growing the knowledge base of the work produced by our early postcard photographers and publishers. One way we can do this is by producing postcard lists.
The table below records a series of postcards produced by a Christchurch photographer believed to be James Gardner. This man operated for a relatively short period of time (1910-1915 approx.) with his images later picked up by other publishers and reused in various formats.
Little is known of this man but he may well have produced an additional series of postcards annotated with the lettering 'F.Ltd' at the bottom. His work is largely distinguishable by the handwriting on the images, the letters 'J.G' and the postcard backs.
